This Week on the Island 10/2/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: Hurricane Ian was the topic all week here in Key West. It was a Category 4 and it did a bit of damage to the Atlantic side of the island. We are on the middle of Old Town on the Eastern side of the island.

There are two types of hurricanes the good one and the bad one. This one was a bad one.

Sunday at 2PM everything looked OK. Ian was below Cuba and was suppose to pass to the west of The Dry Tortugas. Also, the western end of Cuba has some big mountains and if the tropical storm turns into anything the Cuban mountains will slow it down.

Tuesday Ian is sitting on Cuba and getting closer to Key West than expected.

Tuesday at 8PM the hurricane is just off Key West. We are really getting beat up.

Wednesday Hurricane Ian it North of us and we are still here.

The Atlantic at the Southernmost Point.

The streets are flooding. Our street drain into the ocean. When the water is high, the ocean empties onto our streets.

Louis Back Yard got beat up.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.   We are still here
