This Week on the Island 09/04/2016
‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update
to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except
for those parts that are lies.
Weather:
Forecast for next 2 months: Hot and humid with a chance for showers. Maybe a
hurricane or two. That last hurricane missed us. It came up the Florida Straits
(Water between us and Cuba), but didn’t turn into a hurricane until it passed us
and got into the Gulf of Mexico.
The book
this week was ‘Tequila Mockingbird’ by Lewis C. Haskell.
This
week was ‘Brew Fest’ here in Key West.
The big
kick off party was held at The Water Front Brewery.
Then it
moved on to South Beach on the Atlantic end of Duval Street.
Lots of people
waiting in line to have their picture taken at the Southernmost Point.
The new
24 hour gym has opened on Caroling Street. This building used to be West
Marine.
But the
restaurant part is still vacant.
We leave
you this week with ‘Rusty’ using the water pipe to cross the Salt Run water on North Roosevelt. Rusty is about 6 feet long. The Salt Run connects the Gulf of Mexico with the Riviera Canal near Winn Dixie.
Key West
you have got to love it
