This Week on the Island 04/16/2017
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Wonderful. This is why we live here.
EASTER.
I hope you enjoy your day in the way that means the most to you. I find
religion fascinating. Be nice because when you die, well who knows. This week
the blog will be about the Key West Cemetery.
The
entrance to the Key West Cemetery.
The
Cemetery is on the highest point on the island at 16 feet above sea level. Key
West is made from coral rock so we bury above the ground. Many of the old
graves were in the ground.
Out
Cemetery is a beautiful place.
BUT,
even in death we separate the people. There is the Catholic Section.
And the
Jewish Section
There is
the USS Maine Section
The
Cuban Patriot Section
There is
the ‘Key West Condos’ (less expensive) Section
Some of
our graves have funny savings. This is the most popular “I Told You I Was Sick’.
And last
but not least we have an Easter Bunny on the rear of the trike.
I hope you find your share of the eggs.
Key
West, You have got to love it
