This Week on the Island 06/02/2019

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Kind of reminds me of an old Jimmy Buffett song. ‘All the days are the same here’.
The week started with the minimal Regatta in the bight by Schooner Wharf Bar. Each team builds a boat from one piece of plywood, two 2x4’s, some screws, no caulking, but painting is allowed. Teams of 4 race.
We also had Swim Around Key West.
Then there was the anniversary of Sloppy Joe’s moving to its current location.
For the last few years we have been invaded by ‘curly tailed lizards.
And we leave you this week at Schooner Wharf Bar on Friday as Teeki and I listen to Michael McCloud singing ‘Me and my uncle’.
Key West,
Close to Perfect, Far from Normal’
