This Week on the Island 04/10/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather

Saturday, Teeki and I took a little ride around town. First stop was for some treats at Captain Tony’s,

Then across the island on Duval Street and back 1 block to The Southernmost Point in the lower 48 states. The lady said, ‘It’s not 90 miles to Cuba, it’s 110 miles. The tour guide said, ‘It’s 90 nautical miles, it’s 110 road miles. You can drive if you want, but I will take a boat.’.

Then today instead of The Truman Waterfront Park, we went to Fort Zack State Park.

The wind was blowing and the waves were crashing on the rocks. Reminds me of the Buffett song, ‘White caps on the ocean, big storm coming soon’. You can tell by the blue skies; we are NOT expecting any storm.

This is looking at Fort Zack today

This is looking at Fort Zack before they dredged the ships channel and put the ocean bottom around Fort Zack.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.
