This Week on the Island 03/08/2015

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
Weather: Beautiful. In the mid 80’s with lots of sun. Life is good.
This week I read ‘Nightwalker’ by Heather Graham.
Monday was a long day with a trip on the Va bus to the VA in Miami

I had an eye exam and they gave me some cool paper sunshades. I have a floater in my vision of my left eye. It should clear in time. I also went to the VA in Key West for my simi-annual physical. I am in great shape except for my left knee and right ankle (arthritis). I am now doing a bunch of exercises for those two joints.

Saturday was an ‘Open Air Art Fair’ on Lazy Way Lane’. It was packed and the weather was beautiful. Check out that sunshine and blue skies.

There was also the dedication of the Bishop Kee statue at the Southern Most Point. He used to sell conch shells at the Southernmost point. Again check out the sunshine, sky and blue sea.

And a Howard Livingston concert at the Southern Most point.

Jo and I went by Fritas on Southard Street to try their Cuban burger.

And let’s not forget the spring breakers.

All around town was heard the mating call of the coed:  ‘I’m so drunk’.
Key West you have got to love it
