This Week on the Island 03/28/2010

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pictures this week (click to enlarge) are ‘Dock of the Bay’ and ‘Guarding our Coast’. Both of them show off the blue water, the blue sky, boats, and on the island are little white houses, and palm trees. This is Key West.

Weather: Warm and sunny. I love it.

The book this week was ‘Deep Shadow’ by Randy Wayne White. I really like his stories of Dr. Ford and the mysteries he solves here in Florida. This one is about Gold.

‘Spring Break Week Four’. It is getting kind of quite. I guess most of the schools have finished spring break and the kids must be back at their studies.

Thursday at lunch, Sassi, Boca, and I went to Schooner Wharf. We were asked to leave! Dogs are no longer allowed. What the ------? I guess we will have to find another place to visit on our daily walks. Florida law http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?mode=View%20Statutes&SubMenu=1

The road work continues at the intersection of Caroline and Elizabeth. The city has installed four drains on the 600 block of Caroline (uphill) and is digging an injection well half way up the hill toward Hill Top Laundry on Elizabeth Street (uphill). I always thought water flowed downhill. So the water will come down Elizabeth and take a right on Caroline and never get to the 4 new drains. Welcome to Key West.
