This Week on the Island 12/12/2010

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pictures this week (click to enlarge) are ‘Lighted Lazy Way Lane at night’, ‘Sassi & Boca & Me’, and ‘Corner of Caroline & Elizabeth’. The last one is across the street from our house and where Harbor House was supposes to be built.

Weather: Nice last Sunday in the mid 70’s with lots of sun and then another cold front with the low temperature getting down into the low 50’s. It warmed back up to the high 70’s by this Sunday with another cold front expected to drop the temperature into the low 40’s by Monday. The husky’s, Sassi and Boca, are enjoying the weather.

I completed the book ‘One for the Money’ by Janet Evanovich. I really like her stuff.

Last Saturday was our Christmas Parade. I have never gotten use to the fact that almost every float has a Santa Clause. In my home town there was one and he was at the end of the parade. I do like the fact that lots of floats carry treats to give to dogs along the parade route.

The construction continued on the house this week. The concrete deck has been poured the banister has been put up and everything has been painted. We are waiting for the spiral stairwell to arrive to complete the job.

Christian Slater (the movie star) was in town last week.

A multi-state manhunt found ‘The Sorority Stalker’ in Key West working at one of our restaurants.

Saturday, while walking the dogs, I ran into the author of www.ConchSchooter.blogspot.com and his trusty side kick, Cheyenne. We had a nice conversation and then moved on.

This Saturday night was the Lighted Boat Parade held in the Key West Harbor and Key West Bight with all boats/ships passing the reviewing stand at Schooner Wharf.

This Week's www.KeyWestTime.com has Parrotheads on Duval and Lucy Buffett cooking.
