This Week on the Island 10/26/2014

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Rain all week. The skies cleared Friday and it turned into a beautiful day for the Locals Parade on Friday and for the Fantasy Fest Parade Saturday night.

This week I finished reading ‘Skink No Surrender’ by Carl Hiaasen that I started last week.

We started last weekend with Goombay in Bahama Village and then Sunday we had the Zombie Bike Ride from the airport to Duval Street. Lots of parties all over town all week for Fantasy Fest and then the skies cleared for the Locals Parade on Friday from the graveyard to Duval Street. Saturday was lots of crazies on Duval Street with the Fantasy Fest Parade on Saturday night. It will be good to slow down (get rid of about 70,000 people and exchange them for 3,000) with the Parrot Heads next week. After that is big money week with the Off Shore Power Boat Racing.

On a personal note: my nephew was in a motorcycle wreak and is pretty banged up in the hospital in Columbia, SC.
