This Week on the Island 05/28/2017

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Summer is here. Hot and humid for the next 6 months.
The book this week was ‘Kilimanjaro Snow’ by Lewis Haskell.

Started the week of by driving to Marathon to take Teeki back to the vet. She had a bad cough and a runny nose. Got some drugs and came home. Pic of 7-mile bridge.
Found an apartment on Stock Island if anyone is interested.
Sunday was Minimal Regatta day at Schooner Wharf. Lots of people build homemade boats to race on the course in the bight outside Schooner. You purchase one sheet of thin plywood, two 2x4’s, a bag of screws, and a roll of duct tape. No caulking, but you can paint. Some of the boats sink, some don’t make it around the course, and some actually finish. The winners race against each other until the ‘last man/woman standing’. It is a fun day with lots of sunburned people.
Monday is Memorial Day. Remember the fallen.
Key West, you have got to love it
