This Week on the Island 03/06/2016

 ‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Beautiful Week.

The book this week was ‘The Havana Bucket List’ by David L. Sloan and Rob O’Neal.

This week was the beginning of Spring Break. Here in Key West Spring Break starts the first week of March and last until Easter. Since Easter varies each year, so does Spring Break. If Easter is in March we may only have a few weeks of Spring Break. If Easter is the last of April we will have about 2 months of Spring Break. This year will be one of those two months year. The Spring Breakers are already here.

There was an “open Air Art Affair’ on Lazy Way Lane behind Schooner Wharf Bar on Saturday.

A new bar ‘Gas Monkey’ is getting ready to open on Duval Street on the same block as Sloppy Joes. The Gas Monkey will be right next to Senor Frogs that I wrote about last week.

 A friend of mine, Michael, writes http://conchscooter.blogspot.com/ . He is also the master behind '911 Buddy'. If you are away from home and get a call that someone has broken into your house 'Who You Gonna Call'? If you call 911 they cannot help and they can't put you in touch with your local 911. Now there is a app for that. Check it out.
