This Week on the Island 01/08/2006
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: The week started with the air conditioning running again, but it cooled off by Wednesday and we opened the windows. Saturday it dropped to the low 50's. Monday it is suppose to be back to the mid 70's.
This weeks book was 'The Florida Keys, A History of the Pioneers', by John Viele. This tells the story of the rest of the Keys excluding Key West. It was very interesting.
On Tuesday we had the turnover meeting for the old 2005 Parrot Head Board to the new 2006 Parrot Head Board.
On Wednesday we took the dogs to 'The Fur Ball Festival', in the Theater on Eaton just off Duval. They served popcorn and champagne.
On Thursday we went to the Red Barn Theatre to see 'The Spitfire Grill'. The Red Barn Theatre is on the small ally between Hard Rock and the Women's Club on Duval. It was a great musical/play with one of our local Parrot Heads performing.
On Friday I went to the VA for a complete physical.
The 'Medieval Festival' was at Mile Marker 17 (Sugarloaf Key) this week. Sugarloaf is where the Bat Tower is located.
It is just too cold to spend much time outside.
Key West, You have got to love it
