This Week on the Island 10/02/2016

  ‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Hurricane Matthew is now a category 5. That make it a bad storm and it is headed this way.

The book this week was ‘The Florida Keys, Volume 3, The Wreckers’ by John Viele.

I went looking for Hurricane Matthew, but all I saw were blue skies.

I went down to the docks to check for Hurricane Matthew, but it wasn’t there.

So I went to Mallory Square, but it wasn’t there either.

Next I rode down Duval Street to South Beach, but Matthew wasn’t there.

Next was the end of White Street Pier. Not there.

Looking toward Smathers Beach and Matthew wasn’t there.

He wasn’t over at Higgs Beach either.

I couldn’t find Matthew so I rode White Street back across the island and pass the new City Hall. (They hope to open it before the end of the year.)

Got home and had a ‘curly tail’ lizard greet me at the porch.
