This Week on the Island 11/30/2014
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
Another cold front. It was 58 degrees by Friday morning but we expect it to be
back in the mid 70’s by Sunday.
I hope
everyone had a great Thanksgiving and ate way more than they should have.
This
week was all about Koda.
It
started last Saturday morning when we got up and found that she had thrown up
twice at the front door. She was fine most of the rest of the day and then
Saturday night she started throwing up again. She was a sick puppy.
At
midnight we call Dr. Doug, the vet in Marathon. We loaded the dogs in the car
and were at the vet’s office my 2:00 AM. The x-rays showed an obstruction in
her intestine. They kept her and did surgery Sunday morning. We picked her up
on Tuesday afternoon. She was wearing ‘the cone of shame’.
I went thru her toys and found the tail was
missing from one of her squeaky toy.
She has
been taking lots of drugs and is doing very well. We will take her back in 14
days to have the staples removed from her stomach.
We leave
with the runners starting their run on Front Street next to Hog’s Breath on Saturday
morning at 8:00 AM.
Sunday
at 4:00 PM is the burning of the hurricane flag at Truman Waterfront. The
hurricane season is officially over for 2014.
Key West
you have got to love it
