This Week on the Island 09/03/2017

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Same as last week. Hot and humid until November with a chance of a hurricane. This is the sunrise across the Key West Bight as seen from Conch Republic Seafood looking toward Schooner Wharf.
No book this week.
We are in the ‘slow’ season. It is September and kids are back in school. This weekend, Labor Day Weekend’ is the last excitement before the dull happens. The folks working with the tourist will have a hard time paying bills until the tourist return for Fantasy Fest, the week before Halloween. So here is a picture of the paint drying on the Shuffle Board in Half Shell Raw Bar.
ALSO, this is the height of Hurricane Season. As a matter of fact, there is one coming toward us now. It should get here next week.
Our plan, as always is.
In reality, it is way too early to know which way this one is going. So, we will sit and watch and wait for Hurricane Irma.
The maned toll booth on Card Sound Road is being replaced by an electronic one.
