This Week on the Island 11/02/2008

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture this week (click to enlarge) is ‘Sassi’s Cakes’. Sunday was Sassi’s 11th birthday. We had a party at Schooner Wharf with People cake and Dog cake. Sassi enjoyed herself and all the other dogs that dropped by for a bite of dog cake.

The Weather: Cold!!! Tuesday night it got down into the 50’s with a strong wind, but was warm again by the weekend.

No book this week.

The Parrot Heads (Jimmy Buffett Fans) are in town. It is good to see some of my old friends from some of the clubs I have belonged too, the Palmetto (Columbia, SC), Sandlapper (Rock Hill, SC), Charlotte, and Dallas Clubs. Lots of partying going on as different clubs had parties at different restaurants/bars around town. Then let’s not forget all the happenings at the Casa Marina, the headquarters for the Parrot Head Convention and the big street dance in front of Margaritaville.

Bob and Greg were in from Tampa Bay area this week. We spend a few days on the bicycles seeing the island. There was a road trip in the Hummer one day up to No Name Pub for pizza and beer. We also spent one day out at the Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson. I think they had a good time. We took some pictures of the manatee playing off the pier at Garrison Bight. Let’s not forget Halloween in Key West on Friday night.

Captain Tony died yesterday, Saturday, at the age of 92. He will be missed.
