This Week on the Island 05/03/2020
‘This Week on the
Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings
in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Same as last week and the week
before. And the week before. And the
week before. Next week looks pretty good also.
This week
I continue to read the book I started last week. Not very thrilling.
April
30, 1975 the end of the war in Vietnam.
The
Truman Waterfront park re-opened this week.
A few
pictures from the Teeki ride on May 1. Key West had no fresh water so rain was captured from roofs and stored in cisterns. Now water comes from around the big lake north of Miami.
This is a large cistern on Whitehead Street that was used by the military.
This old cistern at Mallory Square now has the restrooms in it.
This old cistern at Pepe's at Mallory Square now has outdoor dinning.
Since we are talking about water. Here is an old dug-out canoe at Two Friends Restaurant on Front Street, now used for flowers.
Be safe
and wear your Coronavirus mask, like Marylin Monroe.

Perfect, Far from Normal’
