This Week on the Island 04/25/2021

 

This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather:  Beautiful but a bit dry. We could use some rain. Kind of reminds me of a Jimmy Buffett song, 'all the days are the same here'.

This week I read

And started

This is on the ash tray outside Hogs Breath.

This week was ‘Conch Republic Days’. BUT, because of Covid-19 it was cancelled last year and we had a few events missing this year.

 

The Bloody Battle- missing this year. The Great Conch Republic Navy fights the US Coast Guard with water cannons.

The Bed Races – missing

Drag Races on Duval – missing. The Drag Queens race (it rained that year)

The Longest Parade – missing. Parade from the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico.

Meanwhile back in real life (Square grouper, a bit salty but still smokeable when dried).
