This Week on the Island 12/10/2006
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The picture this week is EarthRace; a boat in Key West Harbor. It is 78 feet long and runs on biodiesel. They are trying to circumnavigate the globe in 65 days. The old record is 74 days.
This week's book was 'Captiva' by Randy Wayne White. I really enjoy his books and the adventures of Dr. Ford.
The Weather: In the low 80's with clear and sunny skies the first of the week. Friday a cold front came thru and the temperature dropping to the low 60's. Sunday it was back to the mid 70's.
Last Saturday was the Christmas Party for the Key West Parrot Head Club at Margaritaville. Sunday was our chance to help the MARC House (Monroe county Association for Retarded Citizens) sell Christmas Trees at their annual fund raiser. Monday was dinner with some Parrot Head friends. Tuesday was the December Parrot Head Club Board meeting where the 2006 officers did a turnover to the 2007 officers. Wednesday was an invite from Margaritaville to come in to the merchandise store for hors d'oeuvres', drinks, prizes and discount on purchases. Thursday was Pearl Harbor Day. Friday I took Jo to the dentist. Saturday was open. Sunday and it is back to the MARC House for more Christmas tree sells.
The wipers on my little Suzuki Samurai quite working after the Hurricane Wilma surge that flooded the island. For some reason, this week, they began working again.
