This Week on the Island 02/17/2013
‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Another beautiful week with a cold front by the weekend.
No book this week, but Jo did get me ‘Mile Marker Zero, The Moveable Feast of Key West’ by William McKeen. I will read it when I feel better.
Last weekend, Feb 9th, we have Civil War Days at Fort Zack. Although Key West is in the south, it was a northern strong hole in the Civil War.
This week we had Jimmy Buffett in town all week recording at his studio Shrimp Boat Sounds on Lazy Way Lane.
Last week I wrote about the ‘Duck Tours’ here in Key West. They are large WWII landing craft they drive around town and out onto the water. The Navy has decided that the Outer Mole area, and the ramp they are using, is Navy Property and they don’t want private craft in there. That should solve the problem.
This week end was ‘Three Dog Night’ with ‘Howard Livingston and the MM24 Band ’at the Truman Annex.
I am still fighting the flu bug. It has been a miserable week as I have laid on the couch and missed everything.
Key West, You have got to love it
