‘This week on the Island' is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather:
Same as the last 4 weeks. Wonderful. Lots of sun, blue skies and white clouds.
In the mid 80’s in the day and the mid 70’s at night. It is now hotter up north
than it is here on the island. Columbia, SC 93 degrees.
The book
this week was ‘Collateral Damage’ by Stuart Woods.
Monday
was Cinco de Mayo with celebrations all around town. I of course went to the
taco eating contest at Schooner (not as a contestant). Each contestant got some
tacos, a hot pepper, a Coroner, and a shot of tequila. Free food.
Tuesday
there was a gremlin shark caught in our waters that attracted national news.
This
was Songwriters Week here in Key West with writers and singers showing their
stuff at locations around Old Town. Lots of locations each day. Saturday there was
a concert on Duval by Sloppy Joes. http://www.keywestsongwritersfestival.com/
Saturday
we took a road trip in the ‘new’ 2002 Chevy Tracker. We went to Marathon to see
Dr. Doug to have Boca’s left front food looked at. He has been limping lately.
He had an infection in his foot and will be on drugs.
You
may remember Harbor House on Lazy Way Lane and this building
Well
they tore it down and built this building as part of the 96 room hotel on Lazy
Way Lane.
Sunday
we will go to Schooner to celebrate Mother’s Day/my birthday. It is the big 7-0
for me.
Key West you have got to love it
