This Week on the Island 10/31/2020
‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: A cold front will be coming thru tonight. The temp should drop into the 70’s.
The Coast Guard doing its job and bring in $80 million in drugs.
The light house at the Dry Tortugas is getting some much-needed attention. (Dry because there is no water. Tortugas because of all the turtles that were here when the Spanish named the place).
Teeki dropping by Captain Tony’s for her daily treat.
One of our Banana trees is leaning against another tree. Both are producing bananas. The bananas to the right are the older ones.
The bananas to the left with the purple pod are the newer ones. A purple leaf will peel back and little flowers will show. The flowers will develop into bananas. The purple leaf will fall away and another leaf will peel back and more flowers will show. In time the weight of the bananas will cause the tree to fall. I cut the stalk and hang it up to let the bananas get ripe. I cut the tree stump to make room for the next banana tree.
When you think of how important you are, just remember.
Also set your clock back 1 hour.
We leave you with Easy like Sunday morning. Key West,
Close to Perfect, Far from Normal’
