This Week on the Island 11/18/2007

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is the island sinking or is the ocean rising. The picture this week is the Corner of Green and Elizabeth beside the Conch Republic Seafood. The water in this area drains into the bight. At high tide the water in the bight backs up into the streets.
The Weather: Our first cold snap! It got down to 65 degrees Friday night. I know that is not cold to you, but I had to get out long pants and put on a long sleeve shirt.

The book this week was ' The Deep Six' by Randy Wayne White. Another murder mystery and sunken Spanish gold in Key West and the Maquesas.

Nothing special going on this week on the island, but there are plenty of vacationers here. The place is packed.

DUMB CROOK NEWS: A guy, way up north in Miami, was stealing from cars in a parking lot. He was hiding from the police near a local lake. The gators got him.

Wednesday night we went to 'Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Gardens' for a 'Taste of Wine and Music' with Michael McCloud playing. Met lots of folks and had a good time.

Friday was another trip to the VA in Miami. It has been over 1 year since I had the titanium knee installed. They were very well pleased with how I was doing.

Saturday was another clean up around Key West. This time we did Caroline Street and around the Key West Bight.

Met some folks this week from Orlando while over at Schooner Wharf. We also had some folks from the Key Largo Parrot Head Club drop by the house.
