This Week on the Island 10/15/2017
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Beautiful. Sunny, white clouds and blue skies.
We made
another trip to the Miami VA to have the staples removed from my ‘total knee
replacement’ surgery. The things didn’t want to come out and so I am now
wearing a big bandage on my knee. Boy, that was painful. The knee is bending 90
degrees and I can hold it straight plus I get around on my walker. Teeki and I
took a ride on the ‘Teeki Kart’ and she really enjoyed it. (It has been 2 weeks
since her last ride). I continue to go to physical therapy 3 times a week and
do exercises at home.
Key West
is pretty quit. Our next big event is Fantasy Fest and the Fantasy Fest parade
on the last Saturday of October. Lots of hotels that were booked for this event
are now closed due to Hurricane Irma. Many people that work in the hotels and
bars have not come back to Key West because their home is gone. SO, even when Fantasy
Fest kicks off, there will be a large number of ‘working stiffs’ not here to
make your bed or fix your drink. http://www.fantasyfest.com/
‘The
Parrot Heads’, Jimmy Buffett fans, come in the first weekend of November and
they will have the same problem. https://www.phip.com/meeting-schedule
So, let’s
just look at some pictures of some of my favorite Key West citizens.
