‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Same as the last seven weeks. Hot and humid until November with a chance
of a hurricane. Pic from Howard

This week’s book was ‘Key West Storm Warning’ by Mike
Pettit.
The Lazy Gecko has closed and fired everyone. Will
re-open and will bring in a new crew, will not hire locals.
House on Simonton Street getting some much-needed love
and attention.
This week was Mel Fisher Days. Mel found the Atochia and
brought up millions and millions in gold, silver and precious stones.
Some men from Alabama got in a lot of trouble. Lobster
season starts in August. Before lobster season we have lobster mini season
where individuals can catch lobster (6 per person per day). These guys were
caught with over 300 lobster tails.
Then a woman from Texas is caught with over 40 Queen Conch
And last week 2 guys from Miami were caught with 3 Key Deer in their car.
