This Week on the Island 07/26/2015
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
Same as the last five weeks. In the high 80’s with lots of humidity. Lots of
sunshine, white clouds and blue skies.
No book
this week.
The 35th annual Hemingway Days was held this week. Many
of the activities were centered around Sloppy Joe’s Bar on the corner of Green
and Duval Streets. It seems to me that the event that attracts the most people
is the Hemingway Look-A-Like Contest. Lots of Hemingway’s everywhere. Lots of
old, fat, grey haired guys walking around in 90+ degrees in safari coat,
sweaters and shorts.
Let’s not forget the Running of the Bulls.
Of course, the tourist are always trying to get in on the action (from 2 years ago)
Then there was the Marlin Fishing contest.
For those of you that are on the healthy side there was the Hemingway
5k Sunset Run/Walk and the Paddleboard Race
And there is
always the Caribbean Street Fair Festivity
We end this week with a picture from http://conchscooter.blogspot.com/
