This Week on the Island 01/29/2006

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pictures this week are: (1) In 1890 a horse drawn trolley travels East on Division Street (now Truman or US#1) past the On Wo Laundry at Frances Street . (2) the same intersection today(2006).

The Weather: A little cooler than normal because of the wind out of the north. The temperature is in the mid 70's but a wind breaker jacket feels very nice. I wear jeans in the morning, shorts in the day, and change back to jeans at night.

This weeks book was 'Secrets of the Millionaire Mind' by T. Harv Eker. This book was given to my wife by a friend. I found it interesting.

Geiger Key Marina, (turn at MM10.5) one of the spots that Jo and I really like, is being sold to the government to be converted into a park. There is a chance they may lease the bar/restaurant back to the guy that now owns it. If that happens, everything may work out for the best.

The new bar/restaurant on the corner of Front and Simonton is about ready to open. It is called 'The Rum Barrel' and is part of the Pirate Museum and is owned by Pat Croce. (Player for the Philadelphia 76'ers/President and Part Owner of The Philadelphia 76'ers/ Motivational Speaker).

Sassi has decided that she likes the ocean. I take her and Wyleigh over to Rest Beach and Wyleigh stays on the beach and smells the seaweed while Sassi plays in the water. They both seem to likes this better than going to the dog park.

There are a lot of old gray haired people in town this week. I fit in quite well.
