This Week on the Island 11/04/2007

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture this week is the Budweiser Clydesdales. Margaretville's beer 'Landshark' is made by Budweiser so the Clydesdales were in town for the Parrothead Convention.

The Weather: At the first of the week it looked bad because of tropical storm Noel. We got lots of wind but very little rain. The weekend was beautiful.

The book this week was 'Key West in Black and White' by Tom Corcoran. I picked it up at the Casa on Thursday during the Parrothead Convention. It is pictures of old Key West.

We had a party this week and 3,000 of our closest friends came to visit. This week was Meeting Of The Minds (MOTM) the annual meeting of Parrotheads (Jimmy Buffett fans) . The theme was 'Barefooting Key West'.

Most MOTM activities were focused around the Casa and many Parrotheads stayed there. There were parties all over town that were hosted by the different Parrothead Clubs. We visited the Palmetto Parrotheads at the Conch Farm: the Panama City at Schooner Wharf: the Atlanta at The Bull, and of course the many clubs that chose Hogs Breath. We went by Margaretville for a few adult beverages and walked Duval Street on Halloween dressed as pirates.

We went to the Casa for registration and to sit around the pool on Thursday and the street party on Duval on Friday .

We decorated the Hummer, but the wind blew the shark fin off the top.

Saturday was back to the Casa for parties all day long.

I think a good time was had by all.

I would like to thank everyone that came over to introduce themselves.
