This Week on the Island 11/30/2019
‘This Week on the
Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings
in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Beautiful. I love this time of
the year. BUT so do the tourist. The island is packed for the 4-day
Thanksgiving Weekend.
If you
go to the new Truman Waterfront Park and go to the waters edge, you will be at
the old ‘sub pen’. (enclosed area for docking submarines in WWII). On the other
side of the sub pen is a concrete wall called the ‘outer mole’. This is where
the cruise ships dock sometimes. On the other side of that wall is this little
beach. Most people don’t know it is there, and the only way to get there is around
back of Fort Zack.
This is
the old Pirates well on Caroline Street and the first fresh water found on the
island.
The
water park at the Truman Waterfront. In full use most of the year.
Rachel
and Shadow, two new huskies at the dog park.
Playing
with Shelby and Teeki.
Christmas
before Thanksgiving. Even here in Key West we have that problem. On
Thanksgiving eve, we had the Christmas lights at the bight.
There is
always time for a little relaxation.

Next
week we will walk with the dog in the Christmas Parade.
