This Week on the Island 09/09/2018
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: The middle of September is the high point of Hurricane Season and here
they come. We had a tropical storm pass over us the first of the week.
The book
this week was ‘Revenge in the Keys’ by Matthew Rief.
We also
had what the weather people were calling a King Tide this week. This is the
intersection of Green and Elizabeth in front of Kermit’s Key Lime Shop with
Conch Republic Seafood in the background. That is saltwater they are driving
thru. Our street drains, drain to the ocean so in some high tides the ocean
drains into our streets.
We also
had some nice weather between the showers. This is down at our new park at the
Truman Waterfront. Standing beside the Ingram looking toward a couple of cruise
ships docked at the outer mole and pier B. Between the two ships is Sunset Key.
Also,
between the rain showers the dogs had a wonderful time at the dog park. This is
Shadow, a giant Malamute; beside him with only her butt showing is Shelby, a Siberian
Husky; Laying on the ground is Teeki, a Siberian Husky; and standing is Aspin,
another husky. All Key West snow dogs.
We leave
you this week with another rainbow over the dog park. In the background on the
right is the Ferry Terminal and the ship that takes tourist out to the Dry
Tortugas and Fort Jefferson. On the left is the old Steam Plant that was turned
into high priced condos.
