This Week on the Island 10/25/2015
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
It was warm last week, then came the
rain, then the wind and now lots of sunshine, blue skies, white clouds and NO
HUMIDITY. I am now back in my rocking chair on the front porch reading.
This
week I read ‘Blood Ties in Key West’ by Susan Haskell. Really a good book. I
will need to look for more by this author.
It is
now ‘stone crab season’.
It was
10 years ago that Hurricane Wilma came calling. Flooded everything with salt
water. This was just after Katrina had flooded us earlier in the summer.
Carl
Peachey is leaving the island. He plays guitar with Michael McCloud. He will be
missed.
Goombay,
the celebration of our African/Caribbean Heritage was held this week on
Patronia Street in Bahama Village.
The Zombi Bike Ride will be Sunday. Jo and I have our trikes
ready.
Fantasy
Fest will be next week.
