This Week on the Island 01/10/2016
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
It is beautiful here. In the mid 80’s in the day and high 70’s at night.
The
island is packed with people everywhere.
Caroline
Street is still under construction. Lots of loud noise, diesel smell and guys
yelling above the machine noise all day long. Hopefully it will only last (on
my block) for another month.
Schooner
Wharf is one of my favorite spots on the whole island. It all started with a small
bar on a boat.
Then
there were bands on the bow of the boat and dancing on the pier.
Then the
concrete block building at the end of Williams Street became available. It had
a building on top that could be used as an office.
A little
stage was built in the dirt outside the building.
Then the
office burned.
Recently
the city tore down the old office and rebuilt the concrete block building
making it two story.
Always
changing, but still Schooner.
People
hanging out at Higg’s Beach on Saturday.
Key West
you have got to love it
