This Week on the Island 09/04/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: September a continuation of August. Hot & Humid.

This month starts the ‘ber’ months. You know, Septem-ber, Octo-ber, Novem-ber, Decem-ber. Here in Key West, it is still summer.

The Half-Shell Raw Bar opened in 1972

This week we had a celebration

In 1970, Key West welcomed the cruise ships.

Now Key West protest the cruise ships.

1935, a killer Labor Day hurricane destroyed the Keys and Flagler’s Railroad. Lots of people died.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.   Pic from Vance Pacy.
