This Week on the Island 10/02/2005

The Picture is just another beautiful Key West sunset.

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: Beautiful. The temperature is in the mid 80's in the day and drops into the high 70's at night. A little rain every day keeps the humidity high, but we like it that way.

We are in our 'slow' season and will stay that way until Goombay and Fantasy Fest the last of this month. The first of next month the Parrot Heads, Jimmy Buffett fan club, comes to town .Then the island stays busy until next August. We do have a few less tourist in the Summer, but they still come.

It is time to vote if you live on 'the island'. There is a unique opportunity to replace 5 of the 7 members of the city Commission and the Mayor of Key West. Many people are voicing the opinion of a 'clean sweep'. They want the 'good old Conch's' out and replaced with some new people. Jo and I went to vote early on Friday. Vote early, vote often.

'Cheezeburgers' has opened on Duval Street. It is in the same location as 'Papa's' was. Just up Duval Street from 'Sloppy Joe's'. New restaurants means good food for a short period of time.
