This Week on the Island 03/17/2019

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Another beautiful week.
Still living with the Spring Break crowd. Easter is toward the end of April so this year we will have 8 weeks of Spring Breakers.
Monday was another trip to the VA in Miami. Just to have my teeth cleaned so this was an uneventful trip. So, I took this picture.

Tuesday night we had a meeting with the city manager to discuss the dog park at the Key West Bight. The city has started a cleanup of the park and will post some rules for the park. This has nothing to do with the meeting but it was of concern to me and my friends at the dog park.

Teeki and I took another ride down to the new park at the Truman Waterfront. There were some NAVY guys doing training in the old Sub Pens area.
It reminded me of a friend that is no longer with us. Teddy was in the first class of NAVY Frogmen (now the SEALS). The plaque is at the bottom of the stairs at Schooner Wharf Bar.

There have been some cartoons about Key West in the local paper.

And we end this week with a little reminder of what we celebrate today.

Close to Perfect, Far from Normal’
