This Week on the Island 01/13/2008
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture this week is a home for sale in Key West. It is the Porter Mansion on the corner of Duval and Caroline and is priced at a low $15 million. It was built in 1838 and is 6,000 sq ft. It was purchased by Joseph Yates Porter from South Carolina in 1845 and has been in his family since.

The Weather: Beautiful. High 70's and low 80's in the day with a blue sky. Spent lots of time outside playing in the yard.
No book this week.
Not a lot happening this week and not a lot of people in town after the cruise ships leave each day.
This week was another trip to the VA in Miami on the VA bus. Get up at 4:00 AM to catch the bus at 5:00 AM and get home at 6:00 PM. Another long uneventful day, except I saw the Schooner Western Union in dry dock in Miami being repaired. The Western Union is normally parked by Schooner Wharf Bar.
