This Week on the Island 09/21/2014

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Hot and humid with a bit of rain every day.

This week I read ‘Nobody Wins’ by Michael Haskins.

This week was ‘Petersons Harley Poker Run’ and ‘Key West Musicians Festival’.

Lot of motorcycles in town this week end for the Poker Run. They start in Miami and come down the keys stopping at locations and picking up poker cards. The one with the best hand in Key West wins. It is all for charity so each cycle can purchase as many cards as they like.

Schooner Wharf had a pig roast for the bikers and they all seemed to have a good time. There was a tattoo contest and a ‘Biker Babe Rock and Roll Burlesque Show’.

Then there was the Key West Musicians Festival at the Smokin’ Tuna.  The schedules shows the musicians swapping out every 30 minutes.

And last but not least, Boca went to Shea’s Pet Grooming for a bath and comb out. He is clean, fluffy, and smells good.
