This Week on the Island 11/26/2006

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Picture this week is Thanksgiving on the docks.

The Weather: COLD. Tuesday morning it was 55 degrees with a wind blowing. The weather station said we had broken a record for low temperature on this date. Wednesday morning it was 54 degrees with a wind blowing. Again we broke a record for this date. It was back in the low 80's and sunny by Sunday.

Thanksgiving week, the island is packed. People looking for a little warmth. I am afraid they are looking in the wrong place. It was nice again by the week end.

Our local Thanksgiving celebration went on as usual. We met on the dock in front of Schooner Wharf and had a sort of family reunion with everybody bringing something. It was in the mid 70's and sunny, but we toughed it out and enjoyed ourselves, after all Thanksgiving only comes once a year.

Saturday we took Wyleigh the dog to the vet in Marathon for a checkup. She seems to be in great shape. We ate at a place called 'Porky's' it is in Marathon, on the right just before the 7 mile bridge. We had the 'NC bar-b-que pork sandwich'. It was wonderful.
