This Week on the Island 07/13/2008

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Weather: Summer in the Keys.

The book this week was ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams. I also read a few of Edgar Allen Poe’s short stories: ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’, ‘The Murders of the Rue Morgue’, and ‘Ligeia’.

A slow week in Key West. July 4th is over, it is hot and most of the tourists have gone home. We still have about 3 or 4 cruise ships again that keep lower Duval with customers.

I spent some time on my bike this week just peddling to different parts of the island. It is nice to have fewer tourists which mean less traffic which means safer bike riding.

I spend most of the day Thursday on the VA bus to the Miami VA. Got up at 4:00 AM, got to Miami at 9:00 AM, got back on the bus at 1:30 PM and got back to Key West at 6:00 PM.
