This Week on the Island 04/19/2020

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather:  Same as last week and the week before. And the week before.  And the week before. Next week looks pretty good also. And on and on. I know it is the dry season, but we sure could use some rain.
This week’s book was: The beginning is about when the Beatles came to Key West because of a hurricane in Miami in 1964. They Stayed at the Best Western at the airport, it is no longer there. They got their stuff and went to the bar to play. The word got out and many musicians came to the Best Western to 'jam' with the Beatles. It was called the Paradise Gig. They left the next day.
Not a lot happening anywhere! Key West is very quiet. Monroe County, FL, where Key West is located has 73 cases of Coronavirus and 3 deaths. When people talk about the number of cases in the USA as compared to different countries in Europe remember this map.
Teeki and I were ready for our ride around town.
The Cuban Coffee Queen is still open and this sign was showing.
Sloppy Joe’s was tented to be gassed for termites.
If you have never seen him, just hollow ‘you hooo!’ as you pass him on North Roosevelt. He has been running since we moved here 20 years ago.
