This Week on the Island 09/18/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: September a continuation of August with a hurricane added.

This Picture from the Key’s Citizen, just in case you have never seen a 6 toed cat.

The monument at the Southernmost Point has a birthday this week.

Part of the Old 7-Mile Bridge has been restored with walking and bicycle paths.

The paper said the railroad was destroyed by the hurricane of 1935

But we all know the Swing Bridge was destroyed when a truck carrying a back-hoe hit the propane tank and blew up.  The new 7-mile bridge was almost complete and was opened for use.

P

Speaking of hurricanes. The Grotto was built so Key West would not take a direct hit from a destructive hurricane. So far it seems to be working.

Tropical Storm Fiona is headed this way and should became a Cat1 hurricane.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.
