This Week on the Island 08/20/2017
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Same as last week. Hot and humid until November with a chance of a
hurricane.
The book
this week was ‘Honorable Revenge by Mike Pettit.
A new
speed record was set this week for a run from Key West to Cuba in 1 hour 18
minutes and 3 seconds.
The
entrance to the new park on the Truman Waterfront is taking shape and is open
for use.
There is
also a new exit on Angela Street.
This
building next to Sloppy Joe’s was built as a bank. It has been used for many
things since then and it is now being remodeled for its next adventure.
The old
Cigar Store on Green Street is now an Ice Cream Shop.
September
is the height of hurricane season. They are de-nutting the coconut trees back
in Truman Annex.
My right
ankle is shot, so I wear a brace. Therefore, I now wear shoes and socks
instead of sandals. It sure has messed with my tan.
And last
but not less, a beautiful flower out our front door.
