This Week on the Island 05/29/2022
‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
When I check the radar for the weather using my I-phone, this is the picture I get. Havana 90 miles to the south and Miami 150 miles north. Yes, we are closer to Havana than we are to Miami.
This is also a picture of where we are.
This is the weather prediction for Hurricane Season that starts June 1. Looks like a busy summer. All it takes is 1 hurricane to hit.
Even with all of that, this is what houses around us have sold for. Don't forget to ask about the cost of Home owners, Flood, Wind insurance and Taxes.
Now to change subjects. This is the Galleon. A replica treasure ship built by Mel Fisher as a museum to display all the treasure he was bring up from The Atocha. The replica ship was at the end of Front Street before it sank. There is a hotel there now named The Galleon.
Friday mornings Teeki walk watching the sunrise. Looking East from Conch Republic Seafood Restaurant across the bight.
Memorial Day weekend. Remember the fallen. The older I get the harder this gets. Remembering the ones that didn't return and the ones we lost since then.
We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’. I think both of these are from Bo Fodor.
