This Week on the Island 01/03/2015
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
Some rain, lots of sun.
This
week I read ‘Once upon an Island’. A collection of short fiction, poetry and
non-fiction from New Key West Writers. I also read ‘Mango Summers’, short
stories from Key West Authors’ Coop.
I hope
everyone had a great New Years Eve and hope all your expectations for the 2015
come true.
The
island has been packed. People everywhere. Hopefully we will be back to normal
next week.
With
Year-End we have The Conch Lowering at Sloppy Joes.
We have
the lowering of the Pirate Wench at Schooner Wharf
We have
the lowering of the female impersonator, Sushi, in the giant pink slipper at Bourbon
Street Pub on Duval. Picture thanks to Rob O'Neal.
We have
the lowering of the lime into the giant Margaritta at Sunset Pier (old picture)
And
let’s not forget the Wiener Dog parade

So we
end 2014 and start 2015 with Koda at the beach on Simonton as she enjoys the
waters of the Gulf of Mexico on 01/01/2015.
Key West
you have got to love it
