This Week on the Island 08/07/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: August, hot, humid, I love it.

This was the beginning of B.O.’s Fishwagon (Buddy Owens). It was an actual wagon on Duval Street.

B.O.’s Fishwagon today. On the corner of Caroline and Williams Street.

Captain Tony’s today. They are replacing some of the wood on the front. We live on a tropical island. If it is made of wood, the termites are eating it. If it is made of metal, the salt air is rusting it. If it is made of plastic, the sun is baking it dry.

Captain Tony’s September 2013. Looks about the same.

Seaweed. This is not Key West, but we have the same problem. A lady told me this was her first time to Key West. People told her it was beautiful. It stinks.

Bolt, our new husky is almost 3 years old. He has some bad habits. He pulls too much and he jumps up on people. When he sees another dog, he goes in fight mode.

I do NOT like these things, but we bought one. It is amazing the difference. We only use it on walks and dog park visits.

Stuart Woods has left the island. I have read 20 of his books.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.  You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning.
