This Week on the Island 06/04/2016
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
Weather:
The dry season is over and we are into the cycle of a little rain most days and
then hot and humid the rest of the day.
This
week I read ‘Along the road to Key West’ by Michael Reisig.
This
week started with The Minimal Regatta on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
The event is held on Lazy Way Lane and the Key West Bight at Schooner Wharf.
Each team must build a boat out of 1 thin sheet of plywood, 2 2x4’s some screws
and a roll of duct tape. No calking allowed, but you can paint your boat.
As
always, I spent some time on my trike riding around Key West this week.
Fishermans Cafe
Cuban Coffee Queen
Without
Koda I don’t spend as much time walking as I used to. Boca is getting old so he walks early in the
morning and late in the afternoon.
So I pulled
out the old exercise bike and put it in the corner where Koda’s bed used to be.
‘Storm
out on the Gulf Stream’, Jimmy Buffett. As seen from the door at Schooner Wharf. Life is good in the Keys.
Key West
you have got to love it
