This Week on the Island 07/12/2015
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
Same as the last three weeks. In the high 80’s with lots of humidity. Lots of
sunshine, white clouds and blue skies.
This
week I read ‘Top Secret Twenty One’ by Janet Evanovich.
Mel
Fisher Days. Mel was the guy that found the Spanish Galleon, The Atocha
(a-toe-shoe), and so far $450 million in gold, silver, and precious stones.
Mel’s
100 foot treasure salvage ship, JB Magruder, was docked by Schooner Wharf for
tours.
After a
15 year search and the death of some family, he finally found it.
You can
view some of the treasure at the Mel Fisher Museum, here in Key West
He left
his hand print in the concrete at Schooner Wharf Bar.
Saturday
had the 200 – 300 block of Duval blocked for a street fair and a performance by
some local musicians.
Key West
you have got to love it
