This Week on the Island 02/05/2006

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The pictures this week are: (1) Elizabeth/Green Streets 1920's and the sponge catch and (2) same place today (Conch Republic Seafood in the background).

The Weather: Another beautiful week. The ground hog saw his shadow, so I guess we are going to continue to have the wonderful weather for another 6 weeks.

This weeks book was 'FlashBack' by Nevada Barr. It is about the adventures of a Park Ranger at Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas. I really enjoyed it.

I have gotten addicted to Sudoku (that crossword puzzle that is only numbers).

Last Sunday afternoon the internet cafe across the street had a grand opening. They had a trumpet player on their front porch for 3 hours. He really wasn't that good and I was glad when they closed at 7 PM.

Last weekend was another street fair on Whitehead Street. There were lots of artist showing their ware's. The weather was wonderful and everyone had a good time including Sassi and Wyleigh. A few weeks ago we had a 'Seafood Fest at Bayview Park. I think they liked it better (more food to eat).
