This Week On The Island 05/03/2009
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture this week (click to enlarge) is ‘Braza Lena’ the Brazilian Steakhouse on Caroline Street near the Bull & Whistle. This building has been empty since we moved here. They did a lot of work to open this new restaurant and the place is nice.

Weather: Another week of wonderful weather. The dry season is almost over.
The book this week was ‘Intelligence’ by Jeff Hawkins. This is not light reading and I did not finish the book this week.
Things Tourist Say: ‘How long is the 7 mile bridge?’
A bit slower this week on the island.
Jamey Johnson, http://www.jameyjohnson.com/#/home.aspx ,was recording in Shrimp Boat Sounds on Lazy Lane this week. I never heard of him so I had to Google him.
Two guys from my home state of South Carolina have been having breakfast nearly every day this week at Schooner Wharf. Nice guys.
A big milestone passed this week. I became eligible for Medicare. It starts the first day of the month of your 65th birthday.
Many people like to live where the seasons change. Well, the seasons change here. We have the dry season (December – May) and the wet season (June – November) or
The nice season and the hurricane season or
The nice weather and the HOT weather or
The low humidity season and the humid season or
The tourist season and the NOT tourist season
Next week Buffett was suppose to be in town for the Today Show on May 5th.
Cinco de Mayo in Key West and Buffett, BUT the flu pandemic has put the show on hold. http://www.buffettnews.com/2009/04/23/9991/
