This Week on the Island 04/02/2017
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Summer has arrived and brought the heat and humidity. The A/C is on.
Saturday
was April 1 and the ‘Seven Mile Bridge Run’. Lots of people running in all this
heat and humidity.
Sunday
will be ‘The Cow Key Channel Zero K Run’. Lots of fun for the whole family.
Many folks dressed as cows last year.
We have
‘Conch Republic Days’ coming up toward the end of April. We celebrate that we seceded from the Union on April 23, 1982. Jo and I really enjoy dressing as
Pirates and walking in the parade. With a bad case of arthritis and having to
wear a brace on my right ankle, we did not walk last year and I really missed
it. Jo found a ‘Pirate Ship’ we could put around our trikes and ride.
This is
what our electric trikes look like.
This is
a frame I built to put around the trike.
This is
a very thin sheet of plywood I plan to use to cut out our Pirate Ship.
More
later.
Last but
not least. There is a new dog on the island. His name is Shadow and he is a
Malamute. What a cutie. Teeki is making friends.
Key West, You have got to love it
